Open Specifications
As part of the exploratory development that went into creating VastPark, including around four throwaway prototypes, a number of things became apparent. Creating just another closed, proprietary system wasn’t where we wanted to be. It made more sense to create open specifications around such common parts of these systems as content distribution and content presentation. Hence, MetaWSS and IMML were born.
MetaWSS
MetaWSS stands for Metadata Widget Syncronisation Specification and as its name implies, it uses metadata to do the heavy lifting and abstraction that allows content to become much more flexible and distributable than ever before.
IMML
IMML stands for Interactive Media Markup language and is a markup designed to do for the virtual web what HTML did for the current web of today. IMML aims to be a write once (and in combination with MetaWSS) deploy everywhere specification.
